Our hope is that you will be able to play your sport of choice in the near future. We know that could change at a moment’s notice, but if everything goes well, we hope you can compete in the sport(s) you love. It’s also why we hope you’ll be wearing a custom-fitted athletic mouthguard when you resume practicing and playing.
Here are a few reasons why you should.
It’s strongly recommended
The American Dental Association and the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry are just two of the professional dental organizations that recommend wearing a mouthguard during all high-impact sports. More specifically, they recommend wearing a custom-fitted mouthguard, like the ones you can get at Smith & Wetterhus Dentistry.
It can save your smile
By wearing a mouthguard, you reduce you are 60 times less likely to have a dental injury than an athlete who doesn’t. These mouthguards should be worn for all sports that involve running, jumping, changes in speed and direction, striking or throwing objects, and/or physical contact between participants.
It is easier to breathe, drink, and speak
Custom mouthguards are smaller than store-bought mouthguards. Our mouthguards are molded to fit each person’s teeth. This makes them more comfortable to wear. It also allows you to speak to teammates and coaches, drink water, and breathe without removing the mouthguard.
